HURRICANE RELIEF INFORMATION

More than 15 farms in Just Food’s Network have been severely affected by flooding caused by Hurricane Irene. Just Food is teaming up with partners throughout the region to organize volunteers, gather donations, and advocate on behalf of our farmers. We will keep this page updated as our efforts evolve, so please come back frequently, and thank you for supporting your local farmers!

FARMER ADVISORY COMMITTEE (FAC)

History
Just Food developed the Farmer Advisory Committee (FAC) in January of 2000 as a way to have farmers help shape the CSA in NYC program.  The original members of the FAC were three CSA in NYC farmers, an experienced CSA farmer not directly involved in the program, an extension agent, Just Food’s Executive Director, and the CSA in NYC Program Coordinator.

GROW FOR NYC: Fresh Food for All

What is Fresh Food for All?
Just Food's Fresh Food for All program helps food pantries and other emergency food programs make fresh, nutritious, locally grown food available to families and individuals in need.

GROW FOR NYC: CSA in NYC

What is CSA in NYC?
Just Food matches farmers within our foodshed (250 miles from NYC) with CSA groups in the city.  CSA members pay the farmer a share price at the beginning of the season.  During the growing season, the farmer drops off a variety of farm-fresh food for the CSA members each week.  If you have questions about becoming a farmer for CSA in NYC call Jen Griffith at 212.645.9880 ext. 231 or email her at farmeroutreach[at]justfood[dot]org.
