| We build partnerships among diverse
groups to advance dialogue and action on farming,
hunger and nutrition.

We also conduct training, leadership development,
outreach and organizing to address these issues.
Just Food's primary programs are CSA
in NYC and The City Farms.
CSA in NYC is Community Supported Agriculture in New York City.
CSA helps to support family farms that are struggling
to stay in business, while providing city people,
particularly those in low-income neighborhoods, with
access to high quality, locally-grown, affordable
produce. In a CSA arrangement,
a farmer sells "shares" in his or her farm's
upcoming harvest to individuals, families, and institutions
in the city. More on CSA.
The City Farms
Just Food's City Farms program works to increase food
production, marketing and distribution via community
gardens throughout NYC. We offer workshops, training
materials, and networking opportunities for NYC communities
to grow more food. Since 1997, The City Farms has
grown to include 30 community gardens representing
all 5 boroughs. More
on The City Farms.
The Community Food Education Program (CFE) works with the CSA and TCF programs to enable community members to make the most of their seasonal bounty. Food Educators help us find the time and develop the knowledge and skills to cook delicious and nutritious meals for ourselves and our families. More on CFE.
Our Education & Outreach calls upon NYC residents to become more aware of and engaged in farm and food issues through Just Food newsletters, workshops and conferences, as well as hands-on demonstrations and trainings in local community centers, schools and farmer's markets. |
