Inquiry, Impact, and Action: The 2007 Farm Bill
The Farm Bill isn't just about farming. It is our most important piece of agricultural legislation, covering issues of conservation, food stamps, and school lunches and has implications for people in developing countries.
Join us if you care about: your community, farmers in developing counties, WIC, family farmers, sustainability, food stamps, commodity subsidies, organic labeling, forests, rural development, fair trade, farmers markets, local food, nutrition, the environment, food systems, food security, and food access.
On Thursday, January 25, 2007, the Hunger & Environmental Nutrition Special Interest Group of the Greater New York Dietetic Association (GNYHEN), is sponsoring a full-day, Northeast Regional educational forum and networking event on the 2007 Farm Bill. Co-sponsors of the event include Oxfam America, Hunter College of the City University of New York, Just Food, and the New York City Nutrition Education Network (NYCNEN).
Goals of this event are to
- Help people understand the farm bill and its components
- Develop increased awareness about how the farm bill affects all of us
- Enable people to take action and get involved in making change
Location: Hunter College’s Brookdale Campus on 25 th Street and First Avenue in New York City and will run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
CEU credits will be available for those who are eligible. There will be plenty of opportunity to network, meet other professionals, and learn why the Farm Bill is important, how it affects all of us, and what you can do to make a difference.
